Jesse Williams and 'That Purple Jacket' he wore at the White House

Wil Valor received international attention this past week through Jesse Williams wearing the ‘Purple Star’ Jacket to meet the President at the White House with the Seattle Seahawks.

Jesse Williams draws fashion attention ahead of NFL career
When I originally met with Jesse I quickly realised that putting him in a conservative grey or black suit wouldn’t represent who Jesse is or who he wants to be. He has an on field persona that is larger than his frame. Therefore the only thing I knew is he would feel amazing in was the ‘Purple Star’ jacket. The pattern is a repetition of the photo attached. I originally coordinated it with a dark purple trouser and a white shirt with Black MOP buttons. That combination is a little more refined than the black jeans and sneaker look for the White House.

Co-designed with Katelyn Aslett
There was both admiration for the jacket/outfit and disapproval about the appropriateness of the jacket when meeting the President of the United States. To be honest I understand both sides… in saying this, Jesse’s persona and personal brand is his hair, tattoos and his on field intensity and the jacket is just an extension of that. He is a gentleman off the field and the jacket is his way to make a statement without saying a word.

If you want a unique design we have the experience and knowledge to provide spectacular suits and jackets…

Similarly, if you would like a classic suit we would love to work with you and I am sure we will exceed your expectations.
